Tom Williams was born in 1970 in Sydney, Australia. After finishing high school, Tom worked as a builders laborer while modeling part time. He also worked in the advertising industry for two years before leaving Australia to travel the world as a twenty-five year old. He spent several years snowboarding in Canada before returning to Australia where he continued his sporting pursuits, finishing as a finalist in the 2000 Australian and World Titles of Open Men's Surf Boat Competition. In July 2000, Tom called into a radio talk back program on Sydney radio station Triple J.

The show was hosted by comedic duo Merrick & Rosso, who liked the style of "Tom The Chippy From Manly [a Sydney suburb]". When the pair moved to rival radio station Nova 969, Tom moved with them and began presenting his own segment, "The Chippy Driver Reviver", in April 2001. Soon after that, he was offered a job on the travel program "The Great Outdoors", which he began filming in July 2001. In early 2005, Tom appeared in the second season of the ballroom dancing program, "Dancing With The Stars", which he and his partner (Kym Johnson) won last April. Tom his can currently be seen each week on "The Great Outdoors" alongside reigning Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins.

Williams graduated from the Jesuit St Aloysius' College and worked as a Construction Worker, and competed in surf lifesaving championships. One of Tom's first appearances on television was in the Video Clip of Melissa Tlautz's debut song "Read My Lips".

The turning point in William's life occurred in 2000, when he phoned into a radio show hosted by comic duo Merrick & Rosso. His style interested them so much that he was given a regular segment on the show. This was followed by an offer on long-running travel show The Grid Outdoors in mid - 2001.

In 2002, Tom was the builderin the show Room for Improvement which was shown on the Seven Network,and in 2003, he was announced Australia's Celebrity Worst Driver which wasshown on the Seven Network. Williams also appeared on a lifestyle special ofThe Weakest Link in which he didn't do well.

In 2005, Williams hosted thefifth season of The Mole - The Amazing Game however some fans have called forthe return of former host, Grant Bowler. With the new series, Tom brought theconcept of live eliminations, from Sevens Sydney studios in the city.

In 2005, Williams was one ofseveral Seven Network celebrities who starred in Dancing with the Stars .During his time at Great Outdoors and over the course of the series Williamsemerged as sex symbol In the show's finale, Tom danced shirtless with partnerKym Johnson and he was voted the winner.

In April 2009, Williamsrelieved as sport presenter on Nova 969 during Merrick & Rosso with KateRitchie, whilst Marto was having surgery. In 2010, Tom co-hosted Australia'sGreatest Athlete with Mark Baretta on the Seven Network and also co-hosted NoLeave, No Life with Rachel Finch.

In March 2011, Williamsjoined Classic Rock FM presenting Saturday mornings with Kate Mac Tom has beena regular contributor to entertainment and lifestyle website Live4 since 2012In June 2013, Williams was announced as co-host of a new afternoonentertainment program, The Daily Edition alongside Sally Obermeder, Kris Smithand Monique Wright.
